All students participate in rigorous curriculum and high-quality opportunities for self-directed personal growth, in a safe environment that promotes acceptance and respect. The comprehensive school counseling program supports and facilitates strategic partnerships between the school, family and community. As successful, life-long learners and productive citizens, our students achieve their fullest potential, making a positive difference in our school and community.
Our Mission
The Central High School Counselors’ mission is to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, parents, students and the community. Our objective is to provide all students with consistent comprehensive guidance that includes individual planning, individual and small group counseling, and classroom guidance. It is our goal to help students grow in their academic, personal/social, and career development. As a result of our program, students will be better equipped to learn at their fullest potential, meet academic challenges, and be prepared for a lifetime of continued learning.

Central High School’s counseling program’s foundation serves as the solid ground upon which the rest of the comprehensive guidance and counseling program is built. The decisions made as the foundation is being developed or modified become the “what” of the program. The “what” is defined as the student knowledge, attitudes and skills that are learned because of a school counseling program. Designing a strong foundation requires a collaborative effort to determine what every student will receive as a benefit of a school counseling program.
Our foundation establishes the focus of the comprehensive guidance and counseling program based on the academic, career and personal/social needs of the students in the school.
To effectively deliver the school counseling curriculum and address the developmental needs of every student, Central High School’s Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program must be effectively and efficiently managed. The management component provides organizational assessments and tools designed to manage Cheney High School’s counseling program. The assessments and tools help our school counselors develop, implement and evaluate our school counseling program based on clearly defined priorities reflecting student needs.
